    Sow thinly around 18th February - 21st March, just under deep in prepared soil. Keep the surface evenly moist while the seedlings establish. Protect early sowings from birds and slugs.

    Thin Seedlings

    4 Mar to 18 Apr Dates as each sowing reaches this stage

    When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to . Keep the strongest plants. Remove the weaker ones cleanly around 4th March - 18th April.

    Support Plants

    1 Apr to 30 May Dates as each sowing reaches this stage

    From 1st April, put light stakes or mesh in before the plants start to lean. Add support early rather than waiting for stems to bend.

  4. 05

    Water and Feed

    4 Mar to 10 Nov Dates as each sowing reaches this stage

    From 4th March to 10th November, water during dry spells. If the soil is poor, give one light balanced feed as flowering begins. Avoid overfeeding.

    Cut Flowers

    27 May to 10 Nov Dates as each sowing reaches this stage

    Cut stems from 27th May as soon as the flower heads open. Keep picking through 10th November. Cut early in the day and put them straight into water.
