    Sow Seeds Indoors

    28 Feb to 14 Mar

    Sow seeds thinly on the surface of moist seed compost in trays from 28th February - 14th March. Cover lightly and keep at in a bright spot. Germination takes 7-14 days.

    Prick Out Seedlings

    21 Mar to 28 Mar

    Once seedlings have true leaves, transplant into individual pots from 21st March - 28th March. Handle by leaves to avoid stem damage and grow on in good light.

    Harden Off Plants

    2 May to 9 May

    Acclimatise plants to outdoors over 10-14 days from 2nd May - 9th May. Increase exposure gradually, protecting from frost and strong winds.

    Plant Outdoors

    9 May to 23 May

    Transplant into beds or containers after frosts from 9th May - 23rd May. Space apart in full sun and water well. Use cloches if needed for early planting.

    Pinch for Bushiness

    30 May to 6 Jun

    Pinch out the growing tip when plants are tall from 30th May - 6th June to encourage side shoots and more flowers.

    Water and Feed

    6 Jun to 14 Oct every 2 weeks

    Keep soil consistently moist. Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 14 days from 6th June to support growth and flowering until 14th October.

    Deadhead Flowers

    25 Jul to 21 Oct

    Remove faded blooms regularly from 25th July to prolong flowering. Snip off just above a leaf node to encourage new buds.
