Daffodils in Parsons Green

Plant bulbs around 21st September - 21st October, with the pointy end up in free-draining soil. Set them at roughly three times bulb height, using 10–15 cm as a practical guide for most standard bulbs, and water in well after planting.

From 4th January, watch for shoots pushing through and protect them from slugs if needed. Keep the soil just moist, but avoid waterlogging in pots and heavy ground.

From 13th February, enjoy the flowers as they open and pick a few for a vase if you want. Deadhead spent blooms promptly, but leave the foliage alone so it can recharge the bulb.

Keep the leaves in place for at least six weeks after flowering, from 24th April to 8th June. Let them yellow naturally, then tidy them away once they come off cleanly.
