Plant Bulbs
1 Oct – 31 OctPlant bulbs around 1st October - 31st October, with the pointy end up in free-draining soil. Set them at roughly three times bulb height, using as a practical guide for most standard bulbs, and water in well after planting.
Check Shoots
14 Jan – 23 FebFrom 14th January, watch for shoots pushing through and protect them from slugs if needed. Keep the soil just moist, but avoid waterlogging in pots and heavy ground.
Enjoy Flowers
23 Feb – 4 MayFrom 23rd February, enjoy the flowers as they open and pick a few for a vase if you want. Deadhead spent blooms promptly, but leave the foliage alone so it can recharge the bulb.
Leave Foliage To Die Back
4 May – 18 JunKeep the leaves in place for at least six weeks after flowering, from 4th May to 18th June. Let them yellow naturally, then tidy them away once they come off cleanly.
